Adolphe Nourrit (1802-1839)

Did you know...famous French tenor Adolphe Nourrit commited suicide after becoming despondent? After a glorious career in France, he went to Italy and changed his style, much to his musical detriment. His career did not go well in Italy. (Ref. MQ:XXV (1939) No.1 : p .11)

Camerata

Did you know...the camerata was an assembly of Florentine (Florence, Italy) noblemen [e.g. literary men, musicians, and amateurs) who cultivated early dramatic music? (MQ: XXV (1939), No.1:p. 26.). The "moving spirit" of this group was Count Giovanni Bardi (1534-1612).
